The Grimoire for the Green Witch is a fabulous collection of information on conducting witchcraft, with a comprehensive list of interests covered. The subject matter covers topics ranging from circle casting to drawing down the moon, and everything in between. As the name would suggest, this book also demonstrates a healthy appreciation of the earth and nature, but it is not at all preachy, just giving you the information required for you to effectively work with the universe.
The Green Witch presents information to the reader in a very accessible way, so even someone very new to the craft will be able to pick it up and use it to plan their next ritual. However, it shouldn’t necessarily be a person’s first book on witchcraft, as it is focused on performing witchcraft, as opposed to providing the history and context, which is important before starting to conduct rituals. However, for someone who is ready to actually start conducting rituals and doing magick work, this book is among my most recommended choices.
The book is laid out in such a way that it takes you progressively through various subjects. After a few chapters you will be ready to do simple rituals, and by the end of the book you are covering relatively advanced magick working. Because so many topics are covered and so many rituals are included, the background and meaning behind certain aspects of the magick is not provided in detail. This book is perfect for learning to work the craft quickly, but you will eventually want additional references to help you better understand each topic in more detail and add more intention to your magick.
